Through compression and the action of kaolin, the Kaolin Hemostatic Bandage is primarily used as an emergency dressing for traumatic bleeding. It is suitable for various wound types and body parts and can also be used as an auxiliary fixation tool for fractures.
The safety and effectiveness of the Kaolin Hemostatic Dressing have not been established for use in neurological, ophthalmic, spinal, gastrointestinal, orthopedic (bone repair), any type of anastomosis (including vascular), or femoral artery puncture sites.
This product is not absorbable and must be removed from the wound prior to closure.
The Kaolin Hemostatic Dressing is not a substitute for meticulous surgical technique, sterile procedures, or the proper use of ligatures or other conventional methods to control bleeding.
The dressing must not remain in the wound for more than 24 hours.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
The Kaolin Hemostatic Dressing must be applied directly to the source of bleeding. Placing the dressing near (but not on) the bleeding site will not effectively promote hemostasis.
If bleeding persists, additional dressing should be applied directly to the wound.
Instructions for Use
Verify the expiration date on the package before use. Remove the hemostatic bandage from the packaging.
Apply the Kaolin Hemostatic Bandage directly to the bleeding wound. Apply firm pressure to the source of bleeding until it is controlled.
The dressing may remain in place for up to 24 hours. To remove, gently take off the bandage and thoroughly rinse the wound to remove any kaolin residue.
If the dressing remains in place during patient transport, inform medical personnel and show them the product removal instructions.
Storage Conditions
Keep dry and protect from heat. Do not store in direct sunlight or near heat sources. Store at a temperature of 77°F (25°C) or below.
