Foam Dressing
Silicone foam dressing is an absorbent, atraumatic dressing made from absorbent core and silicone gel. The wound contact surface of Silicone foam dressing is coated with a layer of soft silicone gel that does not stick to the surface of a wound or cause trauma to delicate new tissue upon removal. This soft silicone layer is also slightly tacky, which facilitates application and retention of the dressing to intact skin, but does not cause epidermal stripping or pain on removal. The outer surface of the product is bonded to a vapor-permeable polyurethane membrane, which acts as a prevention to liquid and microorganisms.
The silicone foam dressing include two types: silicone foam dressing with border and silicone foam dressing without border. The absorbent core of silicone foam dressing without border is polyurethane foam and that of silicone foam dressing with border consists of three components, a thin sheet of polyurethane foam ,a piece of nonwoven fabric and a layer of superabsorbent fibres. The core can lock exudate into the product, preventing the wound bed from drying out and the surrounding skin from becoming macerated.

Main Function Principles
- lt has rich cellular structure and strong and rapid liquid absorption amount.
- Gel is formed on the wound after liquid absorption to keep the wound moist.
- lt has the ability to retain exudate in situ, i.e. the function of "locking water".
- The surface of the product can be covered with semi-permeable polyurethanefilm, which is waterproof and breathable and can block invasion of externalbacteria, foreign matters and the like.
- lt has softness, elasticity and compliance characteristics to prevent the woundfrom being pressed.
- The cellular structure can absorb the odor of the wound
Instruction of use
The procedure for applying a foam dressing is as follows:
- Put on gloves.
- Clean the wound area with saline solution.
- Dry the skin around the wound with sterile gauze.
- Apply a foam dressing which extends a minimum of one inch beyond the edges of the wound.
- If the dressing does not have an adhesive border, you may need to apply a secondary dressing or use wrap or tape to hold it in place.
- When changing the dressing, peel off the foam dressing carefully, clean the wound and apply a new foam dressing.
Cautions
- Wash the wound with normal saline and gently dry the surrounding skin around the wound before use.
- Choose foam dressing 2 cm larger than the wound to cover the wound.
- After absorbing the exudate, when the swelling part of the dressing is 2 cm away from the edge, please replace the dressing in time.
- Enable to be used together with other dressings depending on the wound condition.
