Function of a hydrogel dressing
1.Promote wound healing
Provide a moist environment and accelerate epithelial cell growth
2. Anti-infection and antibacterial
Adsorb bacteria and inhibit their proliferation
3. Regulate microenvironment
Absorb exudate or release water to maintain wound moisture balance
4. Reduce scars and pain
Inhibit connective tissue hyperplasia and reduce scars
5. Physical cooling (such as sunburn dressings) to relieve local discomfort
How to use a hydrogel dressing?
Wound cleaning and preparation
1.Use saline or warm water to thoroughly rinse the wound, remove necrotic tissue and foreign matter (if burns, cool down with cold water first).
Gently dry the wound and surrounding skin to avoid damaging the new granulation tissue.
2.Dressing selection and cutting
Cut the dressing according to the size and shape of the wound, ensuring that the coverage exceeds the edge of the wound by 1.5-2cm.
For cavities or sinuses, fill them until they are flush with the surrounding skin.
3.Dressing application and fixation
After tearing off the release paper, cover the gel surface directly on the wound and press lightly to ensure fit.
It is necessary to use an occlusive dressing (such as a foam dressing or a hydrocolloid dressing) to enhance the seal and avoid exudate contamination.
4.Replacement and maintenance
When there is a lot of exudate, change it every 24 hours; the recovery period can be extended to every 2-3 days.
If the dressing becomes milky white or saturated with exudate, it needs to be replaced immediately.
