Products Description
Alginate dressing is a natural polymer material extracted from brown algae (the main component is calcium alginate or sodium salt). Absorbability, gelation and biocompatibility, are widely used in acute and chronic wound care.

Scope of application
1. Moderate to severe exudative wounds
Such as chronic wounds, pressure sores (stage III-IV), lower extremity venous ulcers, and diabetic foot ulcers.
2. Bleeding wounds
Calcium alginate releases calcium ions after contact with blood, promotes platelet aggregation, and helps stop bleeding (such as postoperative wounds and traumatic bleeding).
3. Infection risk wounds
Suitable for mildly infected wounds, can be used in combination with silver ion dressings or antibacterial drugs.
4. Cavities or deep wounds
Filling alginate dressings can fit irregular wounds, such as fistulas, sinuses, etc.
5. Burns or traumatic wounds
Used in the exudation stage (such as shallow II degree burns, abrasions or lacerations).
Core advantages
1. Efficient absorption of exudate
It can absorb 20 times its own weight of liquid, reduce exudate accumulation, and reduce the risk of immersion.
2. Form a moist healing environment
After contacting the exudate, it forms a soft gel to keep the wound moist and accelerate epithelial cell migration.
3. Promote autolytic debridement
The gel softens necrotic tissue, assists in the gentle removal of slough, and reduces mechanical debridement damage.
4. Hemostatic and antibacterial effects
Calcium ion release promotes hemostasis; some alginates contain zinc/copper ions to inhibit bacterial proliferation.
5. Reduce adhesion and pain
The gel barrier prevents the dressing from adhering to the new tissue, and the pain is mild when changing the dressing.
6. Biodegradation and safety
Natural materials are degradable, non-toxic, and suitable for sensitive skin.
Precautions
Applicable stage: Mainly used during the peak period of exudate, dry wounds need to be matched with moisturizing dressings (such as hydrogels).
Replacement : According to the amount of exudate .
Contraindications:
Dry or non-exudate wounds (may adhere to the wound and cause damage);
Severely infected wounds that are not controlled (need to be debrided + systemic anti-infection first);
Forbidden for those who are allergic to seaweed ingredients.
Storage requirements: sealed and moisture-proof, avoid high temperature or extrusion to damage the fiber structure.
Alginate dressings should be selected according to the type and stage of the wound. For complex wounds, it is recommended to combine other therapies.
